"The Churchill County Sheriff’s office is looking into the death of a 19-year-old man who had once served time in a juvenile detention center for involuntary manslaughter.Joshua James Murphy was found dead at a home on Cleveland Street, and the sheriff’s office said there appears to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. Police are awaiting autopsy reports.Five years ago Murphy accidentally shot and killed a friend with a 12-gauge shotgun. Police determined that Murphy pointed the weapon at Mark Anthony and pulled the trigger. The death was ruled accidental since Murphy did not know the gun was loaded.Murphy was sentenced four to nine months in a juvenile detention center by District Judge Robert Estes.Sheriff Rich Ingram said investigators will combine the findings of the autopsy and the evidence at the location of the death to try to determine how Murphy died, not just the cause.“The medical office will give us the cause of death” he said. “We will use that to help determine the manner of death. Any time there is an unknown, we take precautions.”He said it is rare for a 19 year old to die for no apparent reason.“That is the reason for the autopsy,” he said.Murphy’s mother, Darcie Dee Murphy, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter five years ago for allowing her son to have the shotgun and ammunition. She was sentenced one to four years in prison.The Churchill County District Attorney’s office alleged the mother allowed her son to possess the shotgun for a year before the fatal shooting, and she also knew he had pointed it at his 9-year-old brother and a friend previously."
